I've recently come across some work of a Canadian born painter, Sarah Jonas. I just adore her collection of oil paintings which feature a variation of nymph-like autobiographical characters. She combines a saturated color palate and subtle graphics to create a notably dark and seductive atmospheric effect. Her work reminds me of twisted fairy tales with its mythical feel and cryptically alluring characters; pictures that could come straight out of a Tim Burton cult classic. To me, it is just a brilliant collaboration of fine art and graphic design.Saturday, December 27, 2008
