True style come from a deeper place than fashion. Siouxsie Sioux was a woman, a rebel, and a narrative voice. Her music fueled an energy that would live far beyond the late 70s - early 80's punk era, and into the time-capsule of history's women 'a-la-mode.'
When it comes to music, overt attitudes and the poli-suave perspective may be outdated–– but the presence of Siouxsie Sioux transcribes through the decades, as its substance that makes the style. I find myself drawn to such artists and designers who breathe heavily into this particular esthetic of an era. A little deeper, darker, delusional, and not all the way there. Clothing as an inspired reinvention of this energy that was once very much alive.
Time escapes and all we are left with are impressions, the facts and an understanding. Its interesting to see how cultural movements digress, and the ways new people reinvent pieces of the past. It gives us something tangible to hold on to.
